Donna Lynne Butler, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 59 in her beloved hometown of San Antonio, Texas, on September 18, 2024. She was born on December 10, 1964, to Raymond and Lois Butler, in the same vibrant city where she would leave a lasting legacy.
Donna was a beacon of light in the lives of her devoted family, including her parents, her sister Sharon Fernandez and her husband Jaime, her brother Gerald Butler and sister Diana Butler, and her adored nephew Eric Mabry and his wife Ashley. Her presence was a gift to her family, who will remember her warmth and laughter that filled every family gathering.
A proud alumna of the University of Texas at Austin, Donna earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, which paved the way for her distinguished career in Marketing and Public Relations. Her professional journey was marked by her impactful work at Putnam Publishing in New York City immediately after graduating from college. After moving back to San Antonio she worked at Dublin & Associates and Westin La Cantera, Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop. Donna also lent her talents to Tenet Healthcare, where she contributed significantly to their Public Relations efforts.
Donna's passion for storytelling and connecting with people was evident in her work and her daily life. She had a knack for crafting narratives that resonated and built lasting relationships, both personally and professionally. Her colleagues will remember her as the heart of the team, always ready with a witty word and an intelligent insight.
Beyond her professional achievements, Donna was a woman of many interests. A voracious reader, she found joy in the pages of books and magazines, constantly feeding her curiosity and intelligence. Her love for the outdoors was expressed through her enjoyment of bicycle rides and walking. Whether she was exploring nature trails or strolling through her neighborhood, Donna had an appreciation for the simple beauty of the world around her.
Donna's love for all creatures, especially dogs, was profound. Her compassionate nature was evident in the way she cared for and connected with animals. Her soft heart extended to every dog she met, and they, in turn, were drawn to her giving spirit.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Donna will fondly remember her sense of humor. She was funny and friendly, always ready to share a laugh or a smile. Her intelligence was matched by her ability to see the humor in life's everyday moments. Friends and family alike will miss her quick wit and the lightness she brought into their lives.
As we say goodbye to Donna, we celebrate the immeasurable impact she had on those around her. Her memory will be treasured, her stories retold, and her spirit will continue to inspire laughter and kindness in the hearts of those she touched. Donna's legacy is one of love, friendship, and a life lived with purpose and joy.
In honoring Donna's journey, we reflect on a life that, although too short, was lived to the fullest. Her memories will be held close, like the pages of a well-loved book, to be revisited and cherished. Donna's story may have reached its final chapter, but the narrative of her influence will continue to be written in the lives of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Donna. Your story lives on.
