Born on February 16, 1948 in Sherman, TX, Donna was the first-born daughter of Verlin Reuben Dick and Anna Pearl (Aiken) Dick. Throughout life, Donna was known for bringing happiness, light, and beauty everywhere she went. She loved music, dancing, traveling, and making new friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Always a natural caregiver, Donna's nurturing spirit was a blessing to all who knew her.
Donna and her younger sister, Debbie, enjoyed growing up as military brats while their father served in the United States Air Force. Some of her favorite childhood memories were made while her family was stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany. Her family ultimately settled in San Antonio, Texas in 1962, where her father retired from the Air Force.
Donna graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966. She worked at Joske’s (Sadovsky’s) Diamond Salon and later for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Her priority was always caring for her children and being a homemaker.
Donna married Richard Thiesen in 1970. During her 10 years of marriage to Rick, they welcomed son Adam Taft in 1972 and daughter Amy Alain in 1975. In 1982, she married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Ochoa, and blended her family with his, including his son, Clinton James Ochoa. Bobby and Donna remained married for over 43 years.
Family was Donna’s greatest joy. She loved cheering on Adam and Amy in their activities and interests and always served as a source of encouragement. She never wavered in her support and care of her children and, when her children had sons of their own, Donna relished her role as Grams to Amy’s son, Mason (born 2011), and Adam’s son, Ian (born 2018).
Donna enjoyed listening to live music, traveling, watching movies, teaching Sunday school, and volunteering at Shearer Hills Baptist Church. She especially cherished making memories with her family and friends.
Donna is survived by: husband Robert Ochoa of San Antonio; son Adam Thiesen, his wife Kelly, and their son Ian of San Antonio; daughter, Amy (Thiesen) Hubbard, her husband Jason, and their son Mason of San Antonio; stepson, Clint Ochoa of San Antonio; and sister, Debbie (Dick) Sherrill and her husband Scott of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her father, Verlin Dick (Retired U.S. Air Force) and her mother, Anna Pearl (Aiken) Dick.
