Donnell James Hester

Donnell James Hester, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Don was born to his mother, Betty Irene McDaniel, on July 22, 1940, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was raised by his mother and Stepfather, Errett Lujan. Don is a graduate of New Mexico State University with a PhD. in Microbiology. His career history is unique in that he worked in many different professions. He was a Fire controller at the Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico, a Professor of Microbiology at the University of the Incarnate Word, worked for the VA System in their laboratory, eventually developed his own computer system for hospital laboratories which he sold all over the country, and in the last years of his life he developed a computer system for a car dealership. His hobbies included bicycling, photography, astronomy, and birding. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lorraine Torres Hester, his children: Martha, Daniel, and Deborah, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous other extended family members and close friends.
