Following their marriage in 1957, Irma and Jerry began their life together in Cape May, New Jersey, moving away together from their hometown of San Antonio, Texas. They went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard for the next 35 years. Irma was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church since 1972. As a dedicated parishioner and volunteer, she led several choirs, established the Youth Choir, served on the finance committee, and volunteered at the annual church festival. Additionally, she coached the girls Catholic Youth Organization volleyball and softball teams. She competed in various intramural sports throughout the city and was an avid bowler, once winning 3rd place in a statewide bowling competition. She founded and was a member of several year-round bowling leagues with her husband, as well as a women’s-only league where she served as president and treasurer.
Mr. and Mrs. Fierro founded Eagle Loan Company in 1988, which they ran for more than 30 years and grew to two locations. Customer service and the employees were her highest priority and she ensured everyone felt welcomed and cared for. However, amongst these responsibilities, Irma’s proudest roles were being a supportive wife, dedicated stay-at-home mother, nurturing grandmother, and delighted great-grandmother.
Beautiful Irma is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Fierro; her four daughters, Yvonne (Frank) Martinez, Nanette Fierro, La Verne Fierro, and Jeannette (Jose R.
