Dorene D. Hill

Dorene D. (DeLong) Hill, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, in San Antonio, TX. Born on October 5, 1935, in Emerald, PA, to parents Herbert E. DeLong and Evelyn Feinour DeLong. She had been a military spouse raising her family for many years after marrying her husband, Lt. Col. Sherwood S. Hill (deceased). As a military spouse, she resided in 6 US states and 1 overseas country: Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Alaska, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Texas, and Morroco, Africa. She loved her church, Hope Lutheran Church, in San Antonio, TX, and also loved Max Lucado’s writings and preachings. She was a deeply devout Christian. She retired from administrative duties at Northside Independent School District with many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 48 years, Lt. Colonel Sherwood Stanley Hill; and her brother Carl D. G. DeLong (Jean, deceased). Also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Terry Hill and her nephew Alan Hill (JoAnn, living). Dorene is survived by her sons, Dr. David S. Hill (Kristie) and Dannie S. Hill (Anita); her grandchildren, Heather Hill Breske (Scott), Lauren Hill Mulligan (Dan), Kate Hill, Hannah Hill, Grant Hill, Taylor Hill, Kyle Hill, Inga Snyder, and Emily Williams; her great-grandchildren, Cade Breske, Ava Breske, Caroline Breske, Jack “Skunk” David Mulligan, and Maren Mulligan. Her brother-in-law is Arlan Hill (Julia Ann) and her nieces and nephews are Debra Hill Aardewijn (Martin, deceased), Karen DeLong Gasker (Dan), Lisa DeLong Beers (Brian), Jeffrey DeLong, and Christopher Hill (Liesl), and numerous cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and friends.
