

Doris Ethel Coverdell was born on February 2, 1931 in Cromwell, Iowa and entered Heaven’s Gate on October 12, 2017 at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her parents, Abbie Minerva Day and Alfred Earl Blazek, her husband, TSgt. USAF Everett Lee Coverdell, son Douglas Paul Coverdell, sister Darlene Jenkins and brother Donald Blazek.
She is survived by her children: Everett L. Coverdell, Jr., and wife Jeanette, Linda S. Coverdell and Terrell Goodspeed, Judy L. Ricks and husband Sterling, Joyce A. Smith and husband Rick, Tammy L. Luce, Timothy W. Coverdell and Bryan C. Coverdell. She had 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren that she cherished dearly. Doris was known for her love of the Lord. She was a member of Epworth Methodist church for 30+ years and spent most of her time teaching Sunday school and instilling Christian values into young children. She had a passion for gardening, a love for good food and she was the happiest when she was spending time and making memories with her kids and grandkids. She was an avid Spurs fan and loved watching games when they won!! She was a gentle, kind soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be begin on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 p.m. with interment to follow right after at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215, in her name.
