A San Antonio Texas native, Doris had a full life and nurtured a loving family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Captain Robert (Bob) E. Hamilton, USMC retired, and their two sons.
Son, Colonel Paul S. Hamilton’s (USAF retired) family includes, his wife, Cyndi, their son Daniel and daughter, Sarah Valdivia (husband Michael, Major, USAF) and grandson Clayton (Doris’ great grandson).
Son, Adam L. Hamilton’s family includes, his wife, Leslie, their sons Zac Hamilton and Ben Hamilton (wife Hyehyun) and daughter, Olivia Schmitz (husband Carter).
She is preceded in death by her father Major Rufus C. Ross, USAF retired, and mother Mildred I. Ross (nee Hardin), brother Lieutenant Colonel Paul C. Ross, USAF retired, and sisters Mary L. Ross, Sylvia A. Ross and Martha L. Ross.
Doris enjoyed a life with her family and lived in many places including Japan, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Alabama. Doris and Bob were avid square dancers, and she loved creating pottery, gardening, camping, searching for the best cheeseburgers, and had a deep passion for collecting antique clothing buttons. She won many awards competing her button finds at button collector conventions and served as the Austin Button Club Treasurer. Doris enjoyed taking art and pottery classes through Barstow Community College and at Austin Community College. Her greatest love though was taking care of and being with her family and close friends.
