Mrs. Doris L. Hammond was born on December 13, 1926 in Rosepine, LA; the daughter of John and Eunice Lance.
Mrs. Hammond graduated from French High School in 1944 in Beaumont, TX. She passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 87.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Master Sergeant Buren Sparks Hammond, Sr., US Army, (Ret.); her sister, Edith Kretzmann who lived in the Hammond residence with her husband; and by her seven other brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by her loving sons: Buren "John" Sparks Hammond, Jr., and Lawrence Nile Hammond; God children, Steve Estes and Doreen Wagnor; longtime friend Paula Watkins and many other friends, numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hammond was a devoted housewife and mother.
