Mrs. Henckel attended the University of North Dakota where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority before moving with her family to San Antonio in 1940.
She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Luke's Altar Society, Oak Hills Homeowners Association, Retired Navy Officers Wives Club and the San Antonio Conservation Society for which she led tours of the city's historical sites.
Mrs. Henckel was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward A. Henckel; parents, Francis E. Hardy and Lucile Edwards Hardy Zenz, and stepfather Theodore Zenz; and sister Beverly Hardy McCoy.
She is survived by daughter Monica Gose; son Ed Henckel Jr.; daughter-in-law Cynthia Henckel; grandchildren Stephen, Marianna, Caroline and Phillip Gose, and Lauren and Kate Henckel; niece Lori McCoy Lindsey and husband, Bryan; and nephews Brian and wife, Barrie, Michael and wife, Martha and Doug McCoy.
