A loving daughter, mother, sister and friend whose love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Doris lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. A true country girl at heart, she embraced western style with pride. Whether it was her boots, her love for the outdoors, or her free spirit, she carried herself with the warmth and strength that made everyone feel at home.
Above all else, she was a loving mother to her three boys. They were the center of her world, and she made sure they knew it every single day. She doted on them endlessly, making each of them feel like royalty through her unconditional love, unwavering support, and endless encouragement. She was truly the life of every gathering, bringing laughter, energy, and love wherever she went. Her generous heart welcomed everyone with open arms, including the open welcome and love shown to her daughter in law. Her greatest joy was simply being mom.
She also had a special love for elephants, perhaps they were her spirit animal, sharing the same qualities of wisdom, loyalty, and gentle nature. Like the elephants she loved so deeply, she was fiercely protective of those she cherished, and was devoted to her family.
Doris is preceded in death by her father, Fred Smith and sister, Bonnie "Sugar Babe" Garza.
She is survived by her mother, Wanda Smith; Frank Silva and wife, Reanna Lindsey, Jason Keith and Justin Gonzales; grandchildren, Alisana Silva and Abel Silva; siblings, Christopher Smith and Jerry Smith; niece and nephews, Kayse, Sammy and J.P. She is also survived by her numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.
A visitation for Doris will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. 78211. A Chapel Service will be held at 11:30 PM, followed by interment at Bexar Cemetery in Somerset, Texas.
