'Sunny was an unbelievable friend. I'm glad I still get chills when I think of her and I think I always will. When you would call her you would have thought the Queen had called her. She started by finding out how your were and went on to how is everyone else, husband, children, grandchildren, friends, animals and all. She would eagerly listen to every detail and couldn't contain her glee many times during the call. 
When asked about how she was doing, she would reply "Wonderful, I couldn't be better!" She would tell about wonderful happenings at the ARC and brag and brag on all the folks who tended to things there. 
She loved to tell you about a new color piece of clothing trending and how she and the other ladies were working it into their wardrobes. Last year she was especially excited about a Lime denim jacket that Pat had sent her! Everyone else was impressed and wanted something Lime too! 
Just trying to put my words about her on paper brings a huge smile. She was an unbelievable influence. Being around her was an encouragement to me to always look my best because she sure did. Her hair always looked so pretty, she had beautiful skin and was always made up like a doll. She also always took the time to accessorize and put 100+% into the effort. 
Sonny always complimented everyone. She saw the best in everyone and never forgot their strengths. She had a special talent recognizing all the Good around her and had unending appreciation for all she and her loved ones had.
My wonderful memories of Sonny will never leave me.'

' I was lucky to have Sunny as a mom, and even more lucky to have her as my best friend. I needed one, and she fulfilled it, with no return expected. 
 That great connection won't ever die, unless I forget that others around me may also need a friend, and forget the "training" I got from Sunny, so that I could share it with others. It wasn't organized, or written, or insisted upon--but it was always there, if needed or wanted. Perhaps you noticed that of her--what she gave was not limited to me. She seemed to have an unlimited supply of whatever that was, or is. Love? Well, that for sure, but there was something indefinable about the way she delivered it, and the perfect timing of it, during a conversation. 
Nothing fancy or magnanimous about it....no particular recipe... just simple and clean common sense, always with a touch of fun, frequently with a touch of sheer joy. 
I don't know how she acquired this wonderful trait. I only know that it originated on a small watermelon farm in Texas, without benefit of any parental "training." Here is an example. She once confided to me that as a young girl she would at times be alone on the farm, and outside in the sand she would suddenly, all on her own, just start running around the shack she lived in, for no reason at all. She remembered that sometimes this disturbed the chickens. :) At this moment, I can almost see her smiling at and apologizing, simultaneously to the chickens, if they were offended. They were her friends.
 So were you.
 She once told me that she thought the definition of God was "Love." 
 My condolence for your loss there at the ARC. But remember: It is quite possible that Sunny Lawrence is still around. 
 If so,she is still loving us, and definitely still smiling at all of us, sometimes for no reason at all.....:)'
