

Doris Kendall O’Brien, 86, died peacefully on April 20, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 25, 1934 in Logan County, Oklahoma as the second of four daughters to Tom and Dorothy Kendall. Doris grew up on a farm near Guthrie, Oklahoma. After graduating from Guthrie High School, she attended the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics. Doris married Frank O’Brien on September 6, 1958 and were blessed with four beautiful children. They lived in many locations including Michigan, Indiana, Louisiana, Colorado and ultimately Houston, Texas where she resided for 41 years. A talented cook, Doris enjoyed time in the kitchen and caring for her family.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank; son David and his wife, Tami of Spring, Texas and their children, Megan (Konrad), Kristin, Lauren, Jonathan and Kathryn; daughters Linda Schmeltekopf and her husband, Mark of San Antonio, Texas; Karen O’Brien and her husband, Dave Rusin of Austin, Texas and her children Patrick and Miles; Kelly Foreman and her husband, Doug of Wilmington, NC and their children, Katie and Emily. Doris is survived by two sisters, Kay Decker and Sue Russell, and predeceased by her sister, Mildred Schoelen.
A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78230. A Rosary service at 9:30 am will precede the Mass.
Interment will take place at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas 77375 at a later date.
