Doris Virginia St. George, 98, of Helotes, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in March 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband George W. St. George and sister, Jean Smith. Her husband and she served in the United States Air Force and enjoyed serving our country all over the nation and world.
Doris is survived by daughter, Susan Froman, and her husband Allen; granddaughter, Tina Powell, and her husband L.J.; grandson, Matthew Froman, and his wife Kelly; two great-grandsons, Konrad and Kolton Powell; one great-granddaughter, Grace Froman; and 2 step-great-grandchildren Myriah and Skylar Warren. .
Doris enjoyed many crafts. She was an excellent painter and did many types of needlework such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, and especially quilting. She was an avid at tatting (making lace) crosses until a few weeks ago. She was a member of several craft groups — The UUMC Quilt Group, The Zion Lutheran Church Crafty Bunch, The Greater San Antonio Quilt Group, and CASA Helotes Quilters.
She was a lifetime member of the Laredo Chapter of the Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and spent many years volunteering at the Laredo Hospital.
Doris was a member of the Helotes Hills United Methodist Church and often attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Helotes.
