
Early in Doris' life, the family moved to Nacogdoches, Texas. It was there, at what is now called Stephen F. Austin State University, that Doris received her B.A. in 1939. Doris went on to receive her master's degree from George Peabody College in 1946.
She worked as a SFA librarian from 1943 until she retired in 1966.
Doris loved to tend to her plants and flowers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Jiggs" Watts; sister, Arlene Kilpatrick; and brother John Edgar Kilpatrick Jr.
She is survived by brother Charles O. Kilpatrick and his wife, Margie Partin; nieces Kye Kilpatrick Fox and husband Louis J., Wendy Laubach and husband Gregg, and Terry Weaver and husband Steve; nephews Mark Kilpatrick and wife Sharon, and Kent Kilpatrick and wife Lucia; along with other extended family.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care Doris received from the Village of Incarnate Word and Chandler House.
