

Doris L. Wheeler was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on May 18, 1936, and went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023. Her parents were Heston Laseman and Viola Mefferd Laseman. After graduating from high school, Doris went to college at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. From there she went to Amarillo, Texas to join the working world. There she met Rodney Wheeler, and they were happily married for 59 years until Rodney’s sudden death in 2018.
After moving to San Antonio, Doris worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T for 23 years. Doris and Rodney loved to travel and had visited all 48 of the original states, as well as Nova Scotia and Victoria Canada.
Doris and Rodney were active members of Northeast Baptist Church until health problems prevented them from participating.
Doris is survived by 2 sons and 2 grandsons. Jimmy Neel Wheeler and wife Robin (deceased), their son Chance Edward Wheeler and his fiancé Jessica Galindo. Heston Glenn Wheeler and wife, Susy Beach, Glenn’s son Blake Heston Wheeler, wife Katie and great-granddaughter, Chloe Marie Wheeler. Doris is also survived by 1 sister, Colleen Hamilton, husband Eugene, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
