

Dorothy S. Closner, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 23, 1920 in Wichita Falls, Texas and grew up in Edinburg, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. She married George W. Closner in 1946 and moved to San Antonio to establish Closner Equipment Company. Dorothy was a PEO, a philanthropic organization for women, for 70 years, and a lifetime member and participated in Jazzercise into her nineties. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for 63 years, serving on the Session as an Elder, a Sunday School teacher, and being involved with Presbyterian Women in the Congregation where she served as Moderator/President, Treasurer and Secretary. She was an Ambassador for the Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services for many years. Dorothy was a very graceful lady and a friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George W. Closner and her brother, Robert Smith of Memphis, TN. Dorothy is survived by her son, Frank Closner and wife Sherry, son, G. Bennett Closner and wife Susan, daughter, Pam C. Hudson, all of San Antonio; 7 grandchildren, Erin Bunting and husband Ross, Blake Closner and wife Roberta, Kyle Closner and wife Jenny, JB Closner and wife Courtney, Myles Closner and wife Laura, Kate Hudson, Matthew Hudson and wife Rebecca; 10 great grandchildren.
