Dorothy was born on April 11, 1943, to Joe and Irene Burkowski and grew up in Vassar, Michigan. She later attended Wayne State University and spent most of her adult life in Farmington, West Bloomfield and Lake Ogemaw Michigan.
Dorothy built a successful career with Merrill Lynch, beginning as a broker's assistant and eventually earning her brokerage license. She was intelligent, capable, and proud of the career she built.
While Dorothy accomplished much in her professional life, her greatest joy was always her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Crawford, and by her parents, Joe and Irene Burkowski; her brother, Stan Burkowski (Patti); and her sister and best friend, Marian Murray (Dennis).
She is survived by her three children, Mike Crawford (Michelle), Mark Crawford, and David Crawford (Tracy); her grandchildren, Jennifer Johnston (Wes), Kyle Crawford, and Mikayla Crawford; and her brother, Robert Burkowski (Mary). She also leaves behind special family members who held a unique place in her heart, including her great grandchildren Olivia and Crawford, her niece Lindsay Burkowski, who was much more like a granddaughter, and godson and nephew, Stephen Murray.
Dorothy loved spending time at Lake Ogemaw, where she enjoyed boating, socializing, and making memories with family and friends. She was creative and loved crafting, and some of her happiest moments came from making holidays special and spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished every opportunity to be together with her family and friends, and was always happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.
Dorothy will be remembered most for her warm heart, her kindness, her humor, and the love she gave so freely to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
