Dorothy Langmore was called home the morning of July 3, 2012, at the age of 76. Dorothy was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School and Sophie Newcomb College. She raised three children, Will, John and Marie, and she was the grandmother to three grandsons, Jordan, Grant and Milo. She also had two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth and Erika. She was married to Bank Langmore, and although they divorced, they remained committed and in love with each other until her last breath. She has one brother Dr. Malcolm Granberry of Houston, Tx.
For more than thirty years Dorothy was known as one of San Antonio’s pre-eminent portrait photographers and her passion for photography never waned. She photographed virtually every prominent San Antonion during that time and her portraits are revered by those that sat for her. Her annual Christmas card of her three children was a tradition her children dreaded but one her friends and clients cherished. Dorothy also achieved national acclaim for her “Women of Distinction” photo project which featured such notable and diverse women as Farah Fawcett, Sally Ride, Gloria Allred and the Gabors.
But Dorothy will be remembered mostly for her loving and famously engaging personality. Anyone that encountered her couldn’t help but be drawn in by her vivacity and infectious sense of humor. Dorothy inspired both love and passion, and she passed enveloped in both – that is the true legacy of her time on earth. Rest in peace, our dearest “Lilly”.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Tuesday, July 24th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for any contributions to Haven for Hope or SNIPSA.
