Dorothy Poling Welch

She is survived by her husband, Billy E. Welch; son, William Welch and wife Marcia; daughter, Rebecca Royse and husband Scott; daughter, Janet Dillard and husband Douglas; daughter, Susan Glaeser and husband Alan; and sister, Margaret West. She was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 2.

Over her 82 years, Dorothy had many titles: daughter to her parents, O.C. and Bessie Poling; hospital dietitian and Lieutenant in the Army; wife and soulmate to her husband; Little League Mom; Girl Scout Leader; genealogic researcher and leader to several genealogic societies including the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and the 1812 Society; Mrs. Welch to the kids in her Bible class; friends to her neighbors and all that crossed her path; and an outstanding example and friend to her children throughout their lives. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
