He was born on March 7, 1945 in Uvalde, Texas to Myrtle Lacey and Milton Douglas Harrington. Everyone who knew Douglas understood his unwavering passion for service to others.
Douglas championed Human Rights through his political activism, fighting for equal rights for Gays and Lesbians. But where his light shined the brightest was in his personal journey towards healing. On August 11, 1980, Douglas put down the drink, never to be touched again for 36 uninterrupted years. His life in Alcoholics Anonymous was spent helping other alcoholics/addicts put the drink down, one day at a time.
Douglas is survived by countless friends of Bill W., as well as, by his sisters Barbara Carmon of Christoval, Texas and Cherri Barker of Austin, Texas, and their extended families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Madison Square Presbyterian Church located at 319 Camden Street, San Antonio, TX 78215 beginning at 10 am followed by lunch and fellowship from 11am – 1pm.
