

On the evening of December 27, 2015, Douglas Clifford Mattos, 71, passed away at home surrounded by his family in Garden Ridge, Texas. Doug lived 67 years in Honolulu; he was born March 29, 1944 and raised in Kailua, the son of Harold (Matt) and Harriet Mattos prior to moving to Texas in 2011 to be close to his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He graduated from St. Louis High school and University of Hawaii. Doug started his career in the hotel Industry and worked many hotel openings: the Sheraton Surfrider, Ala Moana, Halekulani, and the Ali'i Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village to name a few. In 1993 he made a career change and worked in Community Association Management where he retired in September 2010 as the Vice President for Business Development from Certified Management.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa (Teri) with whom he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage; daughters, Tamara (Luis Cruz) Cruz-Mattos and Tia (John) Good; 3 grandchildren: Claire (Vasa) Kuresa, Douglas Good, and Gabriela Cruz-Mattos and 3 great-grandchildren: Tasiana, Tanuvasa, and Tautua Kuresa. Also survived by sisters Janis Rodrigues of Illinois and Georgian Rudnick of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Private Services will be held in San Antonio, Texas.
