

Doug was born in San Antonio, Texas to Albert and Katherine Standish on August 28, 1953. He was a graduate of Lee High School. He married Ruby Herrera of San Antonio.
Prior to working for HEB, Doug constructed mobile homes.
He then had a career working several positions for HEB grocery chain in the positions of GM manager, MIC 3rd shift, grocery stocker for 37 years.
Doug was an ultimate Spurs supporter. He held arena seats for at least 15 years. He decorated his porch and yard with Spurs memorabilia for every game. He has a room in his home with decor dedicated to the Spurs.
Doug bought supplies following hurricane Harvey and drove them to the coast and distributed them to individuals who needed them. He took several trips which he funded himself. He gladly helped all of his friends, neighbors and family with anything that was needed.
He loved animals. He and Ruby have several dogs they rescued.
Doug is preceded in death by his father, Albert E. Standish and mother, Katherine Elizabeth Standish.
Douglas Standish is survived by his wife, Ruby Herrera; his son, Keith Standish; brothers, James Standish (wife-Deb Standish) and Bill Standish: nephew, Ryan Standish: Nieces, Krystle Standish and Shanna Standish.
Visitation will be 7:00 pm-9:00 pm, Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home.
Doug’s wife, Ruby Herrera, deserves a special “thank you and hugs” for the exceptional care she gave to Doug during his later health struggles. She and her family loved Doug and helped with the daily struggles. James and Bill supported Doug’s care and wellbeing along with Ruby.
