Doyle Dunn was born on December 6, 1932, in Plano, Texas, to Doris and Ruel Dunn. He fell asleep in the Lord on May 24, 2018 in San Antonio. His family moved to Belton, TX, where he graduated from Belton High School. He graduated from Austin College with an undergraduate degree in English and received his Master’s in Divinity from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He joined the US Army in 1954 and served his tour in Germany.
In 1968, he met and married his best friend and the love of his life, Lauri. They shared many adventures during their 50 years together, raising their family in his hometown of Plano. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the Parish Council.
He moved to San Antonio in 2008 to be closer to his grandchildren and enjoyed being an active member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church and attending school programs and activities for his grandchildren. He loved history and would spend hours researching his family’s genealogy and those of his friends and family members. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kindness and caring spirit.
Doyle is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Donaldson. He is survived by his wife, Lauri, son Douglas, daughter Amy Smith (Thomas), and grandchildren Joaquin and Serafina Smith.

A visitation for Doyle will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 2504 N. St. Mary's, San Antonio, Texas 78212. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
