'It was my good fortune to be involved with the Ives of Betty Schroeder and her children for nearly 40 years. During that time, I had many opportunities to work with Bud. I appreciated Bud's intelligence, humility, generosity and infectious laugh and smile. Every encounter left me with a positive feeling. . He will be missed by my staff and family.'

'I am Margaret Hale, I'm here with my husband Phil. Duane would walk into our Alamo Heights Hardware Store on Broadway looking forward to seeing our son Daryl. The two of them would go on and on having such a great time. 
One day Duane asked Mr Hale "would you & Mrs Hale like to go to my condo in Port Aransas"? Phil the I Hate Sand man replied I don't know. When Phil came home I said Yes - Yes - Yes. When can we go? 
Duane had been taught by his loving - always giving to others - Mother... He always found ways to help others. 2002 was our first year going to the condo. I loved reading the guest sign in book seeing how many people had been blessed by his generosity. 
A police officer in Hondo whose son had died - a garbage worker that needed a place to have a family vacation. He was always sharing & caring for others with his home in New Braunfels on the river or the condo on the coast.
