Dwaine Kingston Lehr, 75, retired U.S. Army First Sergeant and senior Signals Intelligence NCO, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. He was a devoted husband to Bonnie Cass Lehr (née Cass), who preceded him in death. He later found love and companionship again with Marie Lehr (née Juarez), with whom he shared the remainder of his life. He raised four children in a blended family with Bonnie: Wesley Noonan (Norma), Scott Noonan, Tanya Harless (Trevor), and Thomas Lehr. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild who carry on his legacy.
During a distinguished Army career spanning over two decades, he earned numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, multiple Army Commendation Medals, and foreign marksmanship honors. His greatest Army legacy, however, was the generations of future leaders he helped mold.
After retiring from the Army he spent time as a mechanic before retiring a second time from Northside Independent School District where he managed the testing materials warehouse.
He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors with friends and family. A natural mechanic, there was no car he couldn’t fix, but he had a particular passion for Corvettes.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, located at 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, on March 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A chapel service will take place at the same location on March 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
