Dyphene Parsons was born in Telephone, Texas on April 5, 1929 to Troy and Lillie McRae. She was raised in Bonham, Texas alongside her four loving siblings: Athelia, Veda, Fern, and James “Sonny.” Dyphene met the love of her life, J.B. Parsons, while working for the Bonham Chamber of Commerce. J.B. served our nation in the European Theatre of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in France. After marriage, they moved to Waco, Texas and eventually settled in San Antonio, where they raised their three wonderful boys: Brad, David, and John “Mo.” They were members of Trinity Baptist Church for many years, and shared over forty years of marriage together.
A wizard in the kitchen, there was hardly nothing that she could not cook. Among all her pastimes, baking was her favorite. Dyphene absolutely loved to get in the kitchen and whip up pies, cakes, and candies from scratch–many of which came from old family recipes handed down for generations. Above all, Dyphene cherished her family, in whom she took immense pride.
Dyphene was called home to the Lord while in the comfort of home at the age of 97 on July 6, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband J.B. Parsons; her son David Parsons; her two parents Troy McRae and Lillie Keeton McRae; and her three sisters Athelia “Tillie Jackson,” Veda Nichols, and Fern McRae.
Dyphene is survived by her son Brad and partner John, her son John “Mo” and wife Loraine; her grandsons Brey, Chase, and Jeremiah; and her younger brother James C. “Sonny” McRae and wife Pat.
