

Edgar Cantu Ramos, Jr., born in San Antonio, Texas on New Year's Day in 1927 to the late Edgardo M. Ramos, Sr. and Pauline Cantu Ramos and passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas.
He was a 1944 graduate of San Antonio Vocational and Technical School Fox Tech High School and continued his education completing two years at San Antonio College.
Edgar proudly served his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Reserves. After serving in World War II, he received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army on December 27, 1946. During Edgar's army tour of duty, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He completed his military service with an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force Reserves on June 21, 1953.
Following his military commitment, Edgar was later employed at Kelly Air Force Base for 13 years as civil servant and later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 25 years. He owned and operated E.C. Radio and TV specializing in electronic repair and later became a computer enthusiast. Edgar enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including his fellow FAA retirees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Yolanda Esquivel and Teresita Ramos.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucy Casillas Ramos; daughter, Susie Ramos Mendoza and husband, Ronald E. Mendoza; granddaughters, Felicia M. Smith Brad and son, Noah; Melissa M. Tully George and Jessica M. Mendoza; brother, Reynaldo C. Ramos and wife, Beatrice and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
