Edmund Gerald Chamberlain III, known affectionately as Ed to his friends and loved ones, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 1, 1945, in Florence, Arizona, Ed was a beacon of light and strength to all who knew him. His final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of his family in San Antonio, Texas.
Ed is survived by his devoted spouse of 56 years, Rena, and their loving children, Cathy Kremer, Sheena Morillo (married to Wally), sons Ian, Craig, and Aaron Chamberlain. His life was also blessed with the joy of eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of kindness and courage. Though he was predeceased by his daughters Rachel and Heather Chamberlain, the memories they shared continue to bring comfort to the Chamberlain family. Ed's sisters, Dee Denny and Rita Pieroni, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also mourn the loss of a truly remarkable man.
After graduating from Victor Valley Senior High School in 1963, Ed's adventurous spirit led him to join the Navy at the tender age of 18. His dedication to his country was further exemplified when he later joined the United States Air Force, serving with honor and distinction. Upon his return to civilian life, Ed found his calling at the Bexar County Water District, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and the values he held dear.
A man of deep Christian faith, Ed's life was a reflection of the well-known verse, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23). He lived his faith through acts of kindness and courage that inspired all those he encountered. His faith-filled nature was the cornerstone of his existence and shone brightly in both his personal and professional life.
Ed Chamberlain's story is one of unwavering love, service, and the quiet strength that defines the human spirit. His kindness was a gentle breeze that uplifted those around him, and his courage was the anchor in times of storm. As we bid farewell to a man who has left an indelible mark on our hearts, we are reminded of the words by Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ed's life was indeed a resounding success, and his legacy will be cherished and upheld by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edmund Gerald Chamberlain III's memory will be honored in a ceremony with family and friends. As we reflect on his life and the joy he brought to so many, we are comforted by the knowledge that his spirit lives through the love he gave and the lives he touched. Rest in peace, dear Ed, until we meet again.
The family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary West, 1710 West Loop 1604 North, San Antonio, Texas, followed by a funeral service.
