

Eduardo Sanchez, 88, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1936 in Brownville, TX. During his childhood the Sanchez family moved to San Antonio, TX where Eduardo graduated from San Antonio Tech High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. He married Theresa Hinojosa in 1962. Eduardo supported United States Air Force Reconnaissance on multiple tours of duty during the Vietnam War while stationed at Turner Air Force Base in Albany, GA and Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, KS. In 1972 Eduardo and Theresa returned to San Antonio, TX shortly after the birth of their son, David. Assigned to Lackland Air Force Base, Eduardo served as a Basic Military Training Instructor. In 1979, having attained the highest enlisted rank in the United States Air Force of Chief Master Sargeant, Eduardo was appointed Wing Superintendent for Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base until his military retirement in 1986. As a civilian, Eduardo continued working as a wedding/quinceañera videographer until 2010.
Eduardo was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and granduncle. While his job required a stern disciplinarian attitude and persona, Eduardo was a gentle giant at home. He loved his family and was always ready to capture family gatherings on video. Theresa loved to travel, and Eduardo ensured that her travel dreams came true. Eduardo was a patient and caring man who could always be counted on to help in any way possible. Eduardo will be remembered by his family as a no-nonsense, hardworking airman, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and godfather. His love and dedication for his country and his family were endless.
Eduardo Sanchez is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Ofelia Sanchez, his brother, Jose Sanchez, his sister, Lydia Arredondo, and his beloved wife, Theresa. Eduardo is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David Edward and Susie Sanchez; grandchildren, David Edward, Jr. and Caroleena Isabella Sanchez; sister-in-law, Gloria Hinojosa, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary, located at 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212 with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday, December 9, 2024 for a funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 3814 Nash Blvd, San Antonio, TX. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
