

Eduviges Hastings De Leon, lovingly known as Vickie and Noina, passed away on April 29, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 79. She was born on December 12, 1946, in Sinton, Texas, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the many people whose lives she touched with her kindness and steady presence.
Vickie was a proud graduate of Burbank High School, and she carried the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance throughout her life. She built a career in customer service and later worked as a sales associate at AT&T.
Among all of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her role as a mother to her three daughters, a responsibility and blessing she embraced with love, strength, and unwavering commitment. She was the fiercely protective and proud of her daughters and took great pride in the women they’ve become.
Family was at the center of Vickie’s life. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Makay and her husband Chris, Kimberly Perkins and her husband Matt, and Kristina De Leon. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Emma, and four others who brought her great joy. She is also survived by her brother, Enrique Hastings, her sister, Elizabeth Brooks, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her with affection and gratitude. Her family was a source of pride and comfort to her, and she in turn was a source of encouragement, warmth, and unconditional love to them.
Vickie lived with a quiet strength and trust in God that guided her through life’s joys and challenges. Her faith was reflected in the way she treated others, with compassion, generosity, and grace. She had a gentle spirit and a welcoming heart, and those who knew her will remember her as someone who could offer comfort, wise counsel, and a reassuring presence when it was needed most.
Vickie also had a deep love for travel and adventure. She enjoyed visiting many places over the years and treasured the memories she made along the way. Among her favorite destinations were New York City, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Chicago, and especially Las Vegas, a place she loved to visit and remember fondly. These travels gave her joy and broadened her experiences, but no matter where she went, her heart remained rooted in the love of her family and the life she built around them.
Those who knew Vickie Hastings De Leon will remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her loving nature, and the way she carried herself with dignity and grace. Her presence brought comfort and stability to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Her life was a testament to the enduring power of family, faith, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, the example she set and the love she gave will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, and on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.12:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will begin at 12:00 p.m.
