

Edward Sandoval Hernandez, age 86, was called home to be with the Lord December 17, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 11, 1938 in Lake Prairie, Minnesota to Teodoro Hernandez and Refugio Sandoval Hernandez.
Edward graduated from Lanier High School where he was part of the football team and printing club. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. A talented carpenter by trade, he honed his craft working alongside his beloved brothers, a time he cherished deeply. After his time as a carpenter, Edward contributed his skills to Clark Printing Company before embarking on a long and dedicated career as a Maintenance Mechanic at Lackland Air Force Base where he retired after 30 years.
Edward's hands were rarely still—whether he was working on special projects at home, lending his expertise to help a friend or family member with home improvement projects, or cheering on his grandchildren at their games and events, his love and dedication to those around him were evident in everything he did. His kindness, hard work, and unwavering support for his loved ones will forever be remembered.
Edward is reunited in Heaven with his son Paul Hernandez, grandson Steven Edward, parents Teodoro and Refugio, sister Elva, brothers Carlos, Efrain, Gilbert, Robert, Abel, Arturo, Emilio, Mario, Armando, Ruben and Samuel. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Emma Porter-Hernandez; sons Edward (Regina), Steven (Christina); daughter Annalisa, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Road San Antonio, Texas 78228 on January 7, 202 at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with US Navy honors.
