

He served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was a Radio Operator and Gunner of a B-17 on 25 bombardment missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe.
During his 25th mission his fighter plane was shot down and he was captured. He was a prisoner of war in Germany.
He received the Purple Heart, the Air Medal and three Oak-Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He again served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1952, when he was honorably discharged.
He became a certified public accountant and practiced in San Antonio, Texas as a comptroller for Stowers Furniture, then Sherman Electronics. Afterwards, he was in private practice from 1976-2008.
He was a member of the San Antonio Rotary Club and the Lamplighters.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Hill; stepson, Hampton B. Mauze, Jr.; granddaughter, Meredith, grandson, Hampton; stepson, George W. Mauze II and wife, Rhae Chell, granddaughters Taylor, Dorsey, Leighton and Josephine; daughter, Terri Rodgers and husband, Larry, granddaughter Alyson; daughter, Laura Hill and husband, L.G. Clark, grandson, Gerald and granddaughter, Courtney.
He was deeply loved and will truly be missed.
