Edward F. Jimenez, Sr.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco M. and Antonia Seguin Jimenez. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alberta Garcia Jimenez; his four devoted children and seven grandchildren, Mary J. Villarreal and children, Phillip Henry Imee, Jessica Ann and Melissa Louise Villarreal; Frances J. Teran and children, Michael Edward Teran and Kristien Michelle Banis Patrick; Edward F. Jimenez, Jr.; Grace J. English George and children, Emily Rose and George Edward English; his two brothers, Albert Jimenez and wife, Helen of Alexandria, Virginia, Alex Jimenez and wife, Josie of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward retired in 1989, after 29 years in civil service having worked at Randolph Air Force Base, Ft. Sam Houston Army Installation and finally at Kelly Air Force Base.

He was active in his community, participating in many organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, The St. James Family Guild and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Edward was an avid bowler and also held the distinction of being a Life Time Director of the San Antonio Bowling Association.

He served four years in the US Navy, which included a tour of duty in the Philippines at the end of World War II. Having received an Honorable discharge, Edward returned to San Antonio and completed his high school education at Fox Tech High School.

Edward's family roots are deep in San Antonio lore and history. His ancestral grandfather, Juan N. Flores, fought in the Texas Revolution and was a brother-in-law to Colonel Juan N. Seguin. Additionally, Juan Francisco Flores de Obrego y Valdez was also an ancestral grandfather and is listed as a patriot of the American Revolution 1776-1783. Edward's roots can be traced as a direct descendent of Domingo Curbelo, a member of the original sixteen Canary Island families who settled San Antonio in 1731.

Pallbearers will be Michael Edward Teran, Phillip Henry Villarreal, George Chang English, Steven Alex Jimenez, Robert Frank Jimenez, and Joan Ann Jimenez.
