

Ed Johnson, age 79, passed away on Friday September 1, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 12, 1944, in Waco, Texas to parents Anne Stuckley and Edward Johnson and was the oldest of nine children.
Ed was very dedicated to his work and family and had an immeasurable number of accomplishments on both fronts. His education and positions held include Military School in London, England (1955-58), Grad. Robert E. Lee HS (1962); Grad. Texas State University (B.A. Political Science. 1967); Special Asst. to Executive Director of San Antonio Bar Ass (1968-69); Briefing Clerk to Judge Preston H. Dial, Jr. (1969-70); Grad. St. Mary's University School of Law (J. D. 1970), Briefing Attorney to John H. Wood, Jr., U.S. District Judge (1970- 1972), Asst. U.S. Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice, Western District of Texas, 1972-1976 (Deputy Chief of Civil Section), Private Law Practice and business (1976-200), President & CEO., Air & Water Purification Technologies, Inc. (2000-2004), President & CEO of Mangosteen Health Beverages International (2004-2018). His professional licenses included being Admitted to Texas Supreme Court and Texas Bar 1971; Federal Bar, Western and Southern Districts of Texas, 1972; U.S. Court of Claims 1972; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, 1973; U. S. Supreme Court 1976.
Ed was designated and assigned by The U.S. Attorney for The Western District of Texas to handle Environmental Claims and Litigation in the Federal Courts on behalf of the United States, and all Federal Departments and Agencies, and for the Air Force and Army Military Bases in the Western District of Texas. He represented the U.S, Secretary of Transportation in the Landmark San Antonio McAllister Freeway Highway environmental case, resulting in the McAllister Freeway being built in San Antonio connecting the San Antonio International Airport with Downtown San Antonio, and IH-37.
He prosecuted and defended Major Civil Cases for all U.S. Government Officials, Departments, and Agencies, including 3 former U.S. Presidents, Federal Judges, the defense of multimillion dollar litigation cases (including the defense of Medical Malpractice claims against Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brook Army Medical Center and their Medical Doctors and Medical Staffs) and handled cases for the SBA, VA, FHA, GAO, and HUD, as well as a wide array of litigation matters and cases for the U.S. Army, USAF, and U.S. Customs. Treasury Dept., DEA, and IRS. Private Law Practice, 1976-2000.
Ed had an extensive background, and experiences as an Attorney at Law, Businessman, Texas Oilman, Investment Banker, Venture Capitalist, and Marketing Consultant to public and private companies, having held NASD Licenses, Series 6, 7, 24, 63, 8 39, in the 1980's. Member: State Bar of Texas; San Antonio Bar Association; San Antonio Federal Bar Association (Served as President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Membership Chairman, Secretary, & Treasurer (1970-1976); Member, Western District of Texas Federal Practice Licensing Committee (1976-1978).
Ed Johnson retired from law practice in January 2000, as the Founder, President & CEO, Managing Shareholder, and “Rainmaker” (i.e., Chief Business Developer) of one of the "Top 20” Law Firms in San Antonio, Texas (as listed in the San Antonio Business Journal's "Book of Lists").
Ed Johnson will be remembered as a well-known lawyer and businessman in business, church, civic, legal and political circles. In the early 70's, he was a Briefing Attorney to U.S. District Judge John H. Wood, Jr., who was assassinated by drug dealers, and served with the U.S. Department of Justice under U.S. Attorney William S. Sessions who later became FBI Director. One of his Federal Prosecutor associates in the U.S. Attorney's office was machine-gunned in San Antonio by drug dealers while enroute to the Federal Courthouse. The U.S. Attorney General named him "Outstanding Assistant U.S. Attorney" in 1973 and 1974. He was licensed in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Claims, U.S. District Court, Texas Supreme Court, and all Texas Courts.
Ed Johnson and his wife, Yvonne, have three children. He has served as the founding President of the Medical Center Chapter and a Field Representative of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International (1989-1991), a member of the Bexar County Christian Coalition, a Director of the San Antonio Chapter of Christian Businessman's Committee (CBMC), and as a popular regular contributing writer for "The Trumpet” Christian Newspaper. In 1988 he was asked to Host and formally introduce Presidential Candidate Pat Robertson in San Antonio, at a City-Wide Fundraiser during his 1988 Presidential Campaign. From 1990 to 1997, he was the TV Host of the popular weekly Sunday TV Program, "God's Army," and the Radio Host of the weekly radio program: "The Christian Lawyer" (1991-1992). In 1992, he was the Republican Precinct Chairman of Precinct 3064 and chaired the 1992 Republican Precinct 3064 Convention. He served on the 1992 Republican Senatorial District Nineteen Convention Resolution Committee and was elected a Voting Delegate to the Texas Republican State Convention.
Ed Johnson was a popular Public Speaker and Master of Ceremonies at all types of events during the past years, locally, nationally and internationally. He spoke on topics such as personal growth, motivation and development, entrepreneurial skills, emerging and hot business trends, and new health & wellness related technologies and products. His hottest topic requested is on Health & Wellness, where he was 100% focused on at the time.
His biography appears in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the South & Southwest, Who's Who in Finance & Industry, and The Biltmore Who's Who 2006 Registry of Executives. He is featured in two books by best-selling author, Pete Billac: "The Silent Killers – Indoor Air Pollution and Unsafe Water" and "Your Home-Based Business - And How To Make It Work."
Over the years, Ed Johnson served as President of the Federal Bar Association, San Antonio Chapter (1975-76), when it was named Outstanding Chapter in the World. (with "The Best Programs," and "Highest Percentage of Membership Gains”). In the U.S. and in fifteen nations, Vice-Chairman of Fund Raising for the American Heart Association, a Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America (Troop 345) with his son Michael, a Director of the American Cancer Director of Christian Businessmen's Committee (CBMC); a Board Member of the San Antonio Christian Schools, Chairman of the San Fernando Cathedral Endowment Fund, a Director of Texas Bible College, and a Director of the Cornerstone Christian Schools Advisory Board.
As an Environmental Attorney, Ed Johnson spoke to executives and officials of public and private companies and to various groups such as Health Care Professionals, County Commissioners Courts, City Councils, Municipal Administrators, Realtors Groups, Insurance Companies and Groups, Homebuilders Associations, Air Conditioning and Heating, Plumbing, and Construction Contractors Associations, Small and Large Business Owners, and Homeowners Associations on the topic of the "Indoor Air Pollution and the Water Pollution Crises," Including Mold and "Sick Building Syndrome" and new technologies now being effectively used to control these and other Indoor Air & Water Pollution Problems, and the many ancillary problems associated with these.
In May of 2003, he met with and advised Top Executives of the San Antonio Restaurant Association and the San Antonio Fire Department on Environmental Issues. In June of 2003 he addressed and advised the Mayor and the San Antonio City Council on High Technology Environmental Equipment and Systems as related to highly effective solutions to the highly publicized and hotly contested and debated proposed San Antonio Smoking Ban Ordinance Issue.
His most frequent speaking engagements are at both open seminars and business meetings with business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs concerning the growing Health and Wellness Trend that is predicted to reach one trillion dollars by 2010. Mr. Johnson was exclusively engaged in his International Health & Wellness business, which is an independent distributor of the XanGo Functional Health Beverage made from the heavily studied Mangosteen fruit from Southeast Asia. Within the first 32 months of business operations, his company's volume reached $4.5 Million in annualized sales, with 6,860 Distributors in 10 countries.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Yvonne Johnson; children Hilary Woodworth, Megan Wilson (Michael) and Michael Johnson (Peggy); grandchildren Story Woodworth, Edward Woodworth, Jordan Curtis (Keaton), Jett Wilson, Jace Wilson, Jye Wilson, Makayla Johnson, and Logan Johnson; and his great granddaughter Scottie Curtis.
Ed loved talking to others about Jesus and leading them to the Lord. He was able to baptize his two grandsons Jett and Jace and dedicate his youngest grandson Jye to the Lord.
He spent his last years happily and peacefully with his wife in the home of his daughter Megan and son-in-law Mike and his three grandsons, Jett, Jace and Jye. He often told people it was like living in a 5-star hotel with a chef. Hilary, Story and Edward visited every Friday and Story especially loved giving him all the extra special love and attention. He and his grandchildren all had a dear love for each other. His family loved to spoil him. He was a simple and gracious man that will forever be dearly missed by all that loved him.
