The world bids farewell to Edward Charles Richter of San Antonio, Texas, departing on August 20, 2026, at the age of 89. Ed was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to August John and Norma Emma (Wiechman) Richter on January 14, 1937.
Ed created special and unique memories for his children centering around watching old movies, hiking and exploring nature trails in and around Cincinnati, and epic road trips to Marco Island, Florida. As his children moved throughout the county, he would show up in his big rig for random visits.
Ed began his career working for the State of Ohio as a civil engineer on infrastructure projects, transitioned into petrol chemical sales where he extensively travelled to the Middle East and Africa, and finally his dream job of driving 18-wheelers until his retirement. He was an old west cowboy at heart.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard (Ann) and James (Marion) Richter, and sisters Nori Natelle and Gayle (Richard) Favret. He is survived by brothers John (Patricia) and Robert Richter, his sister Jane (David) Purcell, and his sons Mark (Cari) and Brent (Pam) Richter, and daughters Krista (Shane) O’Neill and Blaire Richter (Christopher Boughter), along with nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 4:00 pm on September 4th at Sunset Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio with Rosary following at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Catholic Mass will be celebrated at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament at 10:00 am September 5th at 600 Oblate Dr, San Antonio.
