
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Roberts Schmidt after 56 years of marriage, his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Edward is survived by his four children, William Edward Schmidt and wife Betty of Austin, Patricia Ann Gradwohl and husband Jim of Houston, Priscilla Jan Hadley and husband David of San Antonio, and Terrell Robert Schmidt and wife Tamie of Freeport, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dr. William Edward Schmidt and wife Linda of Niceville, Florida, Melissa Hardy and husband Jason of Bastrop, Kimberly Klug and husband Brian of Houston, Kevin Gradwohl and wife Sandra of Houston, Tanner and Heather Schmidt of San Marcos and Tyler Schmidt of Freeport, Texas.; great-grandchildren Juliana, William Edward, Marcella and Zane Schmidt of Niceville, Florida; sister, Hattie Oertli; brother Werner Schmidt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cherished friends and other relatives.
Edward retired from the United States Post Office in 1977 as a rural carrier. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Northeast Baptist Hospital. He enjoyed many years of bowling and playing cards at Brunswick Thousand Oaks and Country Lane Leagues.
Edward also enjoyed visiting Las Vegas and especially spending time with his beloved family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered by his family for his love and faith in our Lord.
