COL Edwin “Pop” Albert Dayton, U.S. Army (ret.) passed away October 6, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Croton-on-Hudson, NY to Merritt & Olive Dayton. On July 26th, 1946, he married his loving wife Kathryne Dayton. Together, they traveled the world following his Army career for thirty years.
COL Dayton was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryne “Kay” Dayton.
He is survived by his children, daughter Diane L. and Calvin Ruger, son Edwin M. and Jill Dayton, and daughter Karen S. and Thomas Vlasak; grandchildren Kathryne M. and Michael Pogue, Burkhardt F. and Stacey Schindler, Kristen A. and Daniel Mayer, Jeanette E. and Derrill Naschke, Edward J. and Holly Schindler, and Patrick E. Dayton; great-grandchildren Julia G. and Kara E. Pogue, Austin C. and Nolan A. Naschke, Preston J. and Evan R. Schindler, Easton J. Mayer and Emma M. Schindler; nephew Donald T. Vesperman; and great-niece Kathryn R. Vesperman.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Sunset Funeral home. The Graveside Services will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Ft.
