Edwin Michael “Eddie” Randol passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his family. He now rejoins the love of his life, his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Saundra Jean Randol.
Eddie was born September 5, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Arthur G. Randol, Sr. and Vida Haynes Randol. A lifelong San Antonian, he built both his life and career in the community he loved.
He and Saundra built a life full of travel, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. Together they raised a large, close-knit family and created a home that was always open, always welcoming, and always full.
Eddie is survived by his children: Michael Randol and wife Erin; Gary Randol and wife Sylvia; GayLynne Randol Crosby and husband Jonathan; Vicki Randol Reeves and husband Rick; Dale Randol and wife Laura; and Shari Randol Lozano; and his brother, Barney Randol.
He was a proud grandfather to Nick, Bailey, Reagan, Kileigh, Jake, Cameron, Misty, John, Austin, Ashley, Taylor, Randol Garrett, and Adam. He was also blessed with nineteen great-grandchildren: Jayden, Chesni, Waylon, CJ, Briggs, Brylie, Jacy, Brody, Madison, Milana, Emmy Lou, Brody, Skye, Waylon, Randol Gray, Logan, Magnolia, Bowen, and another great-grandchild, Quaid, expected in April. Each new generation brought him enormous pride and joy.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur G. Randol, Sr. and Vida Haynes Randol; his wife, Saundra Jean Randol; his brothers Mark Randol, Ernest Randol, and Thomas Randol; his sisters Betty Anne Flume, Anyce Mueller, and Veda Mae Dooley; and his grandson Ricky Reeves, Jr.
Family was the center of Eddie’s world. He attended countless graduations, ballgames, award ceremonies, and milestones for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of his favorite traditions was bringing the entire family together in Rockport each Fourth of July, where watching the fireworks over the bay became a tradition that brought everyone together year after year.
Eddie had a deep love for hobbies and adventure. He loved the outdoors and spent many years skiing, hunting, and fishing. He always had a project underway—whether rebuilding a shrimp boat affectionately named “Shrimp Cocktail,” working on woodworking projects he later gifted to family members, or finding some new challenge to take on. Making his famous oatmeal and his well-known waffles for his grandchildren and creating memories with them were among his favorite pastimes.
Professionally, Eddie spent more than five decades in the insurance business, carrying forward the Randol family tradition and building the work through dedication and relationships. His integrity, work ethic, and reputation made him widely respected in his field.
Those who knew Eddie remember a man who never met a stranger. He was a natural friend-maker, someone who could turn a brief encounter into a lifelong friendship. Known for his style, his ever-present smile, and his warmth, Eddie had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was hardworking, generous with his time, and endlessly proud of his family.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the generations of family who will carry forward the love, traditions, and values he built.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Porter Loring Funeral Home on North Loop 1604 East in San Antonio, with a celebration of his life and the many memories he created immediately following at The Voigt Center in Hollywood Park.
