

Edwin began a military and federal career that expanded 39 years, starting in 1944 with his enlistment in the Merchant Marines, transferring services to the U.S Army Air Corps, and ending his military stint in 1976 with the U.S. Air Force. His civilian career with the V.A. Hospital, San Antonio, commenced after his separation from the military and ended with his retirement in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirl M. Schall and two sisters, Martha Morgan and Jean Sass.
Edwin is survived by his son, Edwin Jr., daughter-in-law, Dolores P. Schall; son, Rhett M., and grandchildren: Eric A. Schall, Cassandra M. Schall, R. Michael Schall and Abaegaeial Schall; brother, William Schall & his wife Marie; sister, Cathy King & her husband Joseph; brother-in-law, Jean Paul Lindfors and wife Dorothy; and brother-in-law, James "Butch" Lindfors and wife Joyce. He will be remembered by the extended Schall and Lindfors families of nieces and nephews, and the many family and friends he cultivated over the years.

A memorial with Military Honors will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX, Friday, 29 September 2017 at 1:45pm.
