Edythe Hermia Toudouze

Edythe Hermia Toudouze, known to many as ET, was born on June 10, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on July 13, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 89. She lived a long life centered on faith, family, and creativity.

ET was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She carried herself with grace and a calm, steady presence that made people feel at ease. Raised in San Antonio by her parents, Raleigh and Hermia Brotherman Jr., she remained closely connected to her family and the values she was taught from an early age. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ralene White and Elaine Juen, and is survived by her brother, Raleigh Brotherman III. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Paul Toudouze Sr., her daughter Pamela Conrad, her son Craig Toudouze and her son-in-law Jody Conrad. She is survived by her sons Paul, Denny, Kenneth, Timothy, and Toby Toudouze, as well as many daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were an important part of her life.

She graduated from St. Anthony’s Elementary, Providence High School, and later the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Her education reflected her natural discipline and curiosity, and it helped shape her lifelong appreciation for beauty and design. She studied interior and floral design and carried that sense of balance and detail into her home and creative work. She also quietly supported causes that mattered to her, including art education, historic preservation, and cancer research.

Creativity was a steady thread throughout ET’s life. She enjoyed working with her hands, whether through design projects, needlepoint, or other artistic pursuits. She had an interest in history and faith that often showed up in the details of what she created. For her, these were not grand endeavors, but meaningful ones. Ways to bring beauty and color into everyday life.

She also valued time spent outside of routine. Visiting small towns throughout Colorado, time in nature, and experiences that offered perspective. She appreciated beauty in its many forms and approached life with determination and resilience.

Those who knew ET will remember her as thoughtful, composed, and deeply devoted to her family. She had a way of making a home feel welcoming and a conversation feel meaningful. She spent 20 cherished years in Crested Butte, where she found joy in planting trees, tending her flower boxes and hanging baskets, and creating a welcoming haven for hummingbirds and rainbow trout. She was also an avid skier and enjoyed hiking through the mountains of Colorado.

Her departure marks the close of a life well lived. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and creativity that will continue through the people who knew and loved her. She will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude.

A Rosary will be held on July 22, 2026, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 223 E. Summit Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212, followed by a Funeral Mass at the same location at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
