Eino Oscar Hakala of San Antonio died Wednesday, December 18th, at the age of 83. He was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and his parents were William and Martta Hakala Finnish. Eino and his wife Mary raised four children and one grandson. Eino was a school administrator having progressed from teacher to principal of Brackenridge High School, director of curriculum and to assistant superintendent in the San Antonio School District. He earned his Master's degree from Harvard University in 1952. He was a devoted husband and father who will be remembered for his charm, wit and consideration for others. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and son Thomas. Survivors: son, Peter Hakala and wife Kathy Lee; daughter, Jenny Hingst and husband Tim; daughter, Lisa Hakala; brother Wilho Hakala and wife Terry and their children Karen and Karl; grandson Jay Hakala, whom they raised, and wife Dinorah; grandchildren Kevin Hakala, Todd Hakala and Lindsay Hingst; great grandchildren Sarah, Mary and Jayden.
