Elaine "Dixie" Kaufman died October 16, 2012 at the age of 78 after a brief illness. She was born in Greenwood, MS on April 15, 1934 to Noble and Felice Evans. Elaine and her family moved to New Orleans when she was a young girl. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Louis "Sonny" Kaufman. Elaine is survived by her son, Kenny Kaufman and wife, Sharon; daughters, Sharon Kaufman Miller and Fran Kaufman Cohen; grandchildren, Nathan Kaufman, Rachel Kaufman, Ben Kaufman and Noble Cohen.
