Elaine Medina

Elaine Haught Medina passed away at home on Monday, October 12, 2026. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 30, 1956, to Jimmy and Angie Haught, Elaine grew up with a deep appreciation for family, friends, and a love of music.

A 1975 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Elaine began working in retail shortly after graduation—a step that unexpectedly shaped the rest of her life when she met her future mother-in-law. That serendipitous meeting led her to the love of her life, Russell Medina, whom she married in 1979. Together, they built a life rooted in love and laughter - welcoming their daughters, Stephanie in 1980 and Elise in 1988.

Elaine had a special talent for creating a charming, welcoming home where everyone felt welcome, and gift-giving was truly her love language. An avid outdoorswoman and animal lover, she spent some of her happiest weekends at the ranch and her summers fishing along the Texas coast.

Above all, Elaine’s greatest pride and legacy was raising two strong daughters, whom she empowered to lead others with love, compassion, and purpose.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Angie Haught.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Russell Medina of Helotes; her daughter, Dr. Stephanie Medina-Gray of New Braunfels, husband Michael Gray, and stepdaughter Rebekah Gray; her daughter, Elise Medina of San Antonio, fiancé Eli Sanchez, stepson Kyle Sanchez, and fur-baby, Mavis Lavender “Grandma’s Bunny” Sanchez; and her cherished chocolate labrador, Ms. Pickles. She also leaves behind her sisters, Diana Bentley (Michael) and Evelyn Huerta (Roland Gonzales); her brother, Jim Haught (Denise); and a loving, extended family of relatives and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Porter Loring West in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elaine's honor to the American Heart Association.
