She was born in El Reno, Oklahoma on December 3rd, 1931. She grew up on a farm in El Reno, referred to as Porter Farm, where she lived in a house built by her grandfather. Eleanor graduated from El Reno High School. She was married to George Edward Purcell on December 12th, 1954.
Eleanor was a member of Windcrest Women’s Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished pianist and attended the American Academy of Music in 1948. Eleanor enjoyed traveling, attending social events, and had a great affinity for the arts. She regularly attended the Ballet, the Opera, the Theater, and the Symphony.
Eleanor was pre-deceased by her husband, George Edward Purcell, and her brother Joe Porter of El Reno, OK. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay Purcell of San Antonio, and her son John Daniel Purcell, his wife Barbara Ann Purcell, and his two daughters Brooklyn Rose Purcell, and Elizabeth Ann Purcell, all of San Antonio.
Services will be held on Friday, November 11th, 2022, at 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.
