Elinor J. Jones

Elinor June Fite Jones was born on June 27, 1919 in Denver Colorado and died peacefully on December 25, 2010 at the age of 91. Elinor was a long time resident of San Antonio, but for the past two years she lived with her daughter in New Braunfels, TX. She was married to the late Byron E. Jones, her soul mate and life partner, for 65 years. Together they raised three children and enjoyed dancing, many wonderful cruises and trips, and most of all their church life and long time friends at Jefferson United Methodist Church. A graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College, she taught in San Antonio for many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Evah Fite; her brother Charles Fite; and her loving husband Byron. She is survived by her brother John Fite; her children, daughter Pamela Jones; sons, Earl Jones and wife Janet of London, Ontario; Marty Jones and wife Susan; grandsons, Brian Jones and wife Jennifer, and Travis Jones and wife Edna; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Chloe Jones and Ella Jones. Visitation will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday December 30, 2010 at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 758 Donaldson Ave. San Antonio TX 78201. Service will take place at 12:00p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010, also at Jefferson United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all the staff at Eden Home, who provided loving care to Elinor in her last days, and Hope Hospice for their support.
