
Elizabeth Marie Callaway, born August 5, 1910, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away June 22, 2005, at the age of 94 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She will be missed by all that knew her and will live on in our hearts and memories.
Marie was a teacher who touched many lives during her teaching career of 57 years. She began teaching at Campbell Elementary School District 16 in Bexar County in 1931 and remained there for 11 years. From there she went to Sam Houston High School and taught there until 1945. In 1948 she taught in a private school in her home. In 1948 she went to Sayers Elementary where she served as principal for one year. Marie taught at P.F. Stewart Elementary School from 1950 until 1954. In 1954 she began teaching at W. W. White Elementary where she taught first grade for 17 years. She retired in 1971, but continued to substitute teach for 20 more years.
Marie is survived by her son, Perry W. Callaway, daughter-in-law, Tempie Callaway, two granddaughters, Tara Callaway and Sonya Mollicone and her husband, Marc, and great-grandsons, Mitchell Mollicone and Mason Mollicone due to arrive in October, two sisters-in-law, Wyble Kibbe and Julia Callaway, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at GraceLand Assisted Living Facility and Odyssey Hospice for their loving and compassionate care during her last days.
