Elizabeth Marie Forrester, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at North Central Baptist Hospital. Elizabeth was born in Victoria, Texas to Nels and Sigrid Alice (Swanson) Nelson, in December of 1920.
As a young lady, wearing her favorite polka dot dress, Elizabeth caught the eye and heart of a young soldier Lloyd D. Forrester who vowed that day to marry her. True to this promise the couple wed in May 1942 and together had 5 children. Her husband's notable military service took the family around the world, living throughout the US and abroad, including Okinawa, Bermuda, Louisiana, El Paso, Long Island and New Jersey, before settling in San Antonio. Wherever they were located on the map, Elizabeth's children (and later her grandchildren) knew home as where she was waiting with unconditional and unlimited love.
A lover of puzzles and games, Elizabeth was a Scrabble genius, making 50 point words with ease. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, gardening, and baking. Her Swedish Meatballs are legendary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her sons William Nelson and Lloyd Jr.; and her daughter, Sue. Left to honor and remember her love are her daughters, Sigrid and Jenny; son-in-law, Bill; 8 grandchildren, Kenny, Cindy, Angie, Patty, John, Roxane, Jacqueline, and Chris; 7 great grandchildren, Zaina, Lauren, Abbey, Audrey, Damien, Devon, Dylan; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Yoda.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2017, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
