

She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 5, 1943, to James William Eastham 1910-2002 and Kathryn Jones 1918-1982. Anne graduated from Odessa High School in 1961 and from Texas Women's University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
She married Harold E Garner on August 8, 1964 and after putting each other through school they continued as a team in all their endeavors.
She began her nursing career as head nurse, project nurse and then clinical nurse specialist. Anne acquired her Master of Science in Nursing in 1976 from TWU. She continued her career as project director of a pulmonary rehabilitation program and assistant professor of a respiratory therapy education program.
While pursuing her doctorate in nursing, she was promoted to administrative director of medical/psychiatric nursing at Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Upon completing her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from TWU in 1992, she relocated to San Antonio to teach as Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Heath Science Center.
She was inducted into the International Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau and served as president of the Delta Alpha Chapter from 1999 to 2000.
She continued to teach acute care nursing and nursing management for eleven years until her passing.
Her family affectionately called her "Dr. Nurse." She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; her sister Janelle, her children, James and his wife Nicole and Kathy and her husband Bill; the grandchildren, Paul, Zoe, Daniel, Rachel, and Brett. Her greatest joy in life was in her two children and her five grandchildren.
