

Growing up mostly in Fort Worth, she graduated from Arlington Heights High School and attended both the University of Colorado and the University of Texas. Bettie was a 1955 Steeplechase debutante, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, the Battle of Flowers Assn., Military Civilian Club, San Antonio Zoo docents, and many other organizations.
Bettie loved the water, travel, music, decorating and spending time with her family. Bettie will be remembered for her cheerful and gracious nature.
She is survived by her mother, Jean Bonnell; her husband of 52 years, Sam Hay Harper, Junior; her children, Kelley Harper Wynne and husband, Don R. Wynne, III of Potomac, MD and Sam Hay "Hutch" Harper, III and wife, Jennifer Shaw Harper of San Antonio. Grandchildren: Hannah Blue Harper, Sam Hay Harper, IV and Harriett Blue Harper, Stephen Harper and Elizabeth Bonnell Wynne. Other survivors include her, brothers; Dr. William Bonnell and wife D'Ann and Brian Bonnell, all of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bettie had a tremendous faith, was devoted to her family, a good and faithful friend, and a dedicated American. Bettie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
