departed this world on July 10, 2025. Liz was born in Amarillo, Texas, on November
14, 1946, to Jane and Cleo Sides. Liz attended school in Amarillo and graduated from
Amarillo High School in 1965 where she was a member of the "Sandy Steppers".
Liz began working for First National Bank in Amarillo where she was introduced to
Doug Howard. She and Doug were married on July 25,1970 and would have
celebrated their 55th anniversary this month.
Liz and Doug moved their boys to Pampa in 1975 and enjoyed 10 years raising them
there. The family moved to Austin and then back to Amarillo, where Liz continued to
work in retail and banking. In 1993, they moved to Lubbock where they remained for
18 years. In Lubbock, Liz had a successful career in banking, sales, and real estate
and continued in real estate and sales after relocating to San Antonio in 2011.
Throughout her life, Liz made many close friends with whom she enjoyed spending
time. Her friends in Pampa, Austin, Amarillo, Lubbock and San Antonio remained near
and dear to her. Liz possessed an amazing sense of style-she loved a cute top and a
fun purse. Her decorating talents were displayed in every eclectic, cozy, and
comfortable home she and Doug shared.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Wade Howard. She is survived
by her husband, Doug, her brother Tom (Antoinette) of Phoenix, son Lane (Kristi) of
San Antonio, daughter-in-law Lainie of Pueblo, CO, and son Christopher Howard of
Reno, NV. She was "MiMi” to grandchildren Taylor (Cory) Hamman of San Antonio,
Grayson (Taylor) Howard of San Antonio, Erin Howard of Amarillo, Lauryn Gollihugh
of Pueblo, Vivien Howard of Austin, and Olivia Howard of Reno, as well as two great
granddaughters, Campbell and Sadie Hamman, and great-grandson Callum Howard.
Liz also had a special place in her heart for her aunt "Big Sis" and many cousins in
Missouri.
The family will gather privately to celebrate Liz's life, accomplishments, and special
memories. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to a hospice in your area.
A special thank you to San Antonio Home Health & Hospice for their care and
support.
